SSAHE inks MoU with Avalon University to enhance Pre-Med programmes overseas

Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education (SSAHE) University, Tumakuru is signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ‘Avalon University’ from the North American Caribbean Island nation of Curacao to jointly work in Pre-Med programs.
After signing the MoU, Hon.Home Minister, Karnataka State and SSAHE Chancellor Dr. G. Parameshwar, expressed that “This MoU is historical. We are delighted to sign this MoU with AUSOM and are looking forward to working with them. This will add that the partnership will encompass various initiatives such as staff and student and faculty exchange, educational conferences and collaborative degree programmes. Hailing the deal as a milestone that this will help the universities to address global challenges and share expertise with the world.”
Added to his words said that two Universities will bring international expertise and ensure that they are applied in the Indian context. The resulting innovative models of health care delivery that will be implemented in India would lead to change in healthcare delivery practices in other countries.
SSAHE chancellor Dr. G. Parameshwar said, “The collaboration between the two Universities will transform good doctors into extraordinary healers. Spirituality and compassion are keys to flourishing in any field.”
Continue his speech, SSAHE chancellor said that, the collaboration evidences the promotion of both academic and scientific activities including joint research project in fields of mutual interests. In exchange of academic publications and reports, sharing of experience in innovative teaching methods and course design, opportunities for faculty development and exchange including joint appointments by organising workshops and mutual exchange of students and research scholars. Also to facilitate a deeper understanding of diverse educational practices, enhance cross-cultural competencies and strengthen the bonds of friendship and collaboration between SSAHE and its international counterparts.
Dr. Shokat Fatteh, Chancellor of AUSOM expressed his vision as “The visionary step of these two universities collaborative framework encourages the interdisciplinary innovations, acknowledges the global identification in pre-med programs will go a long way in improving the quality of innovations and fostering entrepreneurship spirit among doctors global wide. Transformative health care requires a judicious combination of science, technology and entrepreneurship which will be fulfilled by this major collaboration.
Today’s greatest challenge of the century is to reduce premature deaths and disability. This will happen only if we are able to promote and sustain innovation in all fronts – in the fields of path breaking research, use of technology and enterprising ideas that can take affordable health care to more and more people across the globe.”
Advisor to SSAHE Chancellor Dr. Vivek Veeraiah explained this joint Pre-Med Program. He said one of the example that nearly 45% of doctors in US are getting retired soon and expecting nearly 2K doctors by 2036. Also across the globe the scene is same. This MoU between SSAHE and AUSOM will almost put efforts to provide an expertise doctors to the globe according to its requirement.
The medical aspirants who are eligible but not possible to get entry to the course who are collaborating across the globe going global are who this MoU is thinking to make them enter the joint the pre-med program of SSAHE & AUSOM.
AUSOM is the only university which has got approved by all the 3 accrediting boards of Caribbean Islands which is mandatory on this land to start the colleges or university.
The program will begin at SSAHE with AUSOM academic curriculum for first 6 semesters of 14-15 weeks per semester. Who gets successful in this will eligible to take entrance for starting their course at AUSOM. Clinical rotations after successful completion of graduation will be around Curacoa and US. The cost for entire program is been estimated up to Rs. 1.25 Cr approximately.
The entry to the program will as per the eligibility criteria decided by both universities and meets with the authentic regulatory bodies criteria as well of the lands.The partnership agreement will be subject to review and revision once every six (06) years.
Both SSAHE and Avalon University will strive to promote and promulgate modules of teaching methodology, to work on and facilitate projects of national importance in healthcare services with a special focus on primary healthcare, preventive health and telemedicine to give combined impetus and augment research and innovation, and to promote and enhance scientific and academic collaboration, training, and interaction in healthcare services and medical education in various disciplines of medical sciences.
This MoU was also witnessed by the AUSOM team Mrs. Chancellor Rehana Fatteh, Mr Alan Copp, Vice President, Mrs. Pamela Copp, Dr Lanny Wilson, Dean of Clinical Sciences, Mrs. Linnea Wilson, Mr. Dilu Dinani, Vice President and Dr.SateeshArja, Dean of School of Medicine with Director of SSAHE and Mrs. Chancellor Kannika Parameshwari, Advisor to Chancellor Dr. Vivek Veeraiah, Vice Chancellor of SSAHE Dr. Linge Gowda, Registrar Dr. Kurian, Principal of SSIT Dr. Raviprakasha, Dr. Kiran, Dr. Praneeth, HoDs and Staff of various institutions under SSAHE.
